Insulin pump problems

0 Recommendations

Hi,
My hubby has been on the Medtronic insulin pump for 3 years and has now received the pump that has a sensor that tells you what your sugar is at. He has had a couple of weeks where he is low or very high, EMS had ot be called a couple of times when his blood level was 30 - 50. I am sleeping with one eye open each night as I am pretty good at sensing when he is getting low. The pump is supposed to alert him when he is at 70 and again at 240. There was a problem with Lot 8 infusion kits (the tubing that his needle in his stomach is connected to). The people who used that lot had the same problems (low to high sugars). He is using Lot 2 and I am wondering if they too are not good and that is the reason he is having these problems. Does anyone out there use the pump and is having or has had these problems???

Wow you know I don't use a sensor but probably need to as I am getting to where I don't feel my hypos any more. I use the animas ping pump. But you know you probably could find more info on a site I am on a lot. I actually am on the welcome committee there and you are more than welcome to join and ask your questions there. It is loaded with info. www.tudiabetes.com

Hello,

I spent most of the day yesterday on the site you recommended. What a plethera of knowledge. Found some good sugggestions to mention to my hubby. Thank you so much for you reply.

You are so welcome. You can post questions there and they immediately get answered and you have a whole community of diabetics to give support to you when you need it the most. I stay there a lot. They have a pumpers group and a group for the medtronics too. Make sure you join that group. I am in the pumpers group and animas group. I am so glad you like it there.
