Paying for Forteo

0 Recommendations

Hello!
This is a great site...thank you all for your time.
I am 46 and have had osteoporosis for at least 6 years. I have delayed all treatment until now. It seems it is severe and I have to do something more than take calcium. 3 doctors have recommended Forteo. I'm not on medicare or medicaid. I do have health insurance but even with that will have to pay ~360 a month for it. Honestly, can't afford it. Do any of you know of any way to get the Forteo pen at a discount? I'm desperate!
Thanks!

Forteo Osteoporosis

My specialist sent the perscription to a company called Medco. They said that Medco was excellent at submitting request to insurance companies. They were correct. I received three pens in the mail and my cost was only $50. I do not have medicare or medicaid either. I understand your desperation.

mj should get the prize for least expense; I also send my prescriptions to Medco for a 3 month supply. Even though I am on Medicare, my supplemental plan is through the company my husband retired from and that includes my prescription plan. 3 months cost me $150. I have read on the Forteo website that they have a plan to help with expenses but I don't know what qualifies someone for that assistance. Perhaps your dr. can help you qualify for assistance.

I am also looking for financial assistance. Medicare was no help.

What was the name of the Canadian pharmacy referenced by one poster? The person indicated they were discounting the Forteo. Thank you.

I also am insured through Medco and I pay an 18 dollar co-pay a month. The also supply me with needles and alcohol wipes. Medicare is no help, although I'm not on it yet my step-mother was told they would not cover it. She ended up getting it for 6 months through her Dr. somehow, but that's all she could get.

There are some restrictions for discounts on Forteo, but speak with a Lily representative and you may be able to access some help. Please let us know.
