Empi TENS Unit

0 Recommendations

I just got one of these...OMG!! I can't believe how it helps! I have been popping Vicoden like candy for months now and this TENS unit has taken most of my pain away...It is designed for nerve and musle pain, which is what I have:) I would recommend it to anyone who lives with chronic pain. You get 4 electrode pads and it is portable (clips right to your pants). You can where it up to 8 hours a day!! Amazing, how one small PDA size machine can make such a difference!! Try it you'll love it! D

I have a tens unit. I use it everyday, and boy does it work wonders I have had mine for two years now.
I don't recommend keeping it in the same pocket with your ipod though that was a lesson learned the shocking way lol.

LOL!! It is an awesome machine. I don't know why they waited so long to give it to me:)

Do you have RSD? Does the unit go on the outside of your body? My 14 yr. old daughter has waited forever for treatment for her RSD, a type of physical therapy, but I understand it doesn't work for everyone. At least now I've heard something positive as an alternative...thank you!

I have CPM. A demyelinating disorder similar to MS. It really does help nerve pain. I don't know what RSD is but, if it involves the nerves it should help:)

HI

I have severe nerve pain in my legs its the worst in my left, it gets to the point where it hurts when I move it or something touches it, I'm supposed to be tested for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy along with genetic testing next time I get the chance to go back to the mayo clinic.
When I have that type of pain in my legs I would rather not anything touch them I mostly use the tens unit for muscle pain but your daughter might want to give it a try.
I take neurontin for my nerve pain and it seems to work very well.

northwestmom,

If you get the chance visit rsdhope.org

TENS is good, but fairly old, techology. An updated version of TENS, from Russia, is Scenar, which does what TENS does, but on a deeper level, with signals that are closer to being like those the nerves have. TENS generally stimulates the A fiber nerves. Scenar, and even more so Cosmodic, stimulate the C fiber nerves. C fiber nerves when stimulated create endorphins, the body's natural pain killers. And endorphins call into action the body's natural healing processes. And an advancement beyond that is Cosmodic, an even more refined, more automated type of electronic stimulation device. Both Scenar, and Cosmodic, were invented by the same Russian enginner who came up with the Russian version of TENS in the early 1970's, Dr. Alexander Karasev (a PhD type doctor, not a MD). Both Scenar and Cosmodic have been approved for use in the Russian hospitals, and by the Russian doctors and therapists. While both Scenar and Cosmodic have apparenlty had success in triggering improvement of many conditions, Cosmodic apparently works deeper, has had deeper and more permanent results, and has even had a number of reported cases involing regeneration of things like discs in backs, etc.

Some of the Scenar therapists in England have had made progress in helping people with both Parkinsons and MS. A couple of the Parkinsons success stories are reported at: http://www.scenar-therapy.com/publications/ex735_parkinson/ and http://www.scenar-therapy.com/publications/parkinson/ and http://www.scenar-therapy.com/publications/parkinson_3months_later/

Cool, good to know, I will check it out! Thanks for the info. D
