the red bird

as i sit here reading your posts and marveling at your bravery, a beautiful little bright red bird keeps flitting by outside my window. never saw him before. don't know if it is a cardinal but wow!!!
forgive me as i get mystical {not the sensible practical me} but i see all kinds of magic in that bird.
first...the beauty and wonder of life.
next.....the spirits of my departed angels making their presence known {i know this is hokey}
and last....in it's flaming color i feel the spirit of our beautiful clown, sasha . she always offered so much to us.....research, knowledge, friendship . i miss her.
in looking at my past entries i see how excited she was preparing for boston, not knowing that it would be her final journey.
we were so blessed with her.
this little bird is LIFE HOPE SPIRIT.
I HOPE IT STAYS HERE IN BROOKLYN OUT MY WINDOW.
makes me happy and a tiny bit sad. awesome.

I think there's a song in that Curlee!

Very lyrical - beautiful post -thanks, xxxGGC

I, too, have become mesmerized lately by birds and all they represent. My back yard (right off the famous Back Deck!) has more birds in it than I can remember in the past...some even have tropical colors...yellow, orange, etc. It is the cardinals that I see that represent right away...without giving it any thought at all...the spirits of my mother and my grandmother.

My grandmother was a bird watcher. She had had an unbelievably tough life...had been orphaned at a young age and raised her brothers and sisters while raising six kids of her own. She had these weird bird calls she would keep in her dining room, you would twist the thing and it would sound like a bird. I never understood her affection for the flying things...but I do now.

Thanks, Curlee, for a touching post!

Love~

so wonderful to notice and appreciate nature even in the city!!

We are fortunate in that we live on 5 acres out in the country. We have a pond out in the back yard, and I LOVE watching the wild geese land on the pond, play in the water and all fly away together. It IS little things
that bring a lot of happiness!
