Lower back pain at night

I have been having throbbing pain in the lower right side of my back. The pain is present mostly at night when I lie down. Often awaken by pain. Sometimes the pain is present after I have been standing for a long period of time. Has anyone else experienced similar pain/discomfort? I also have an increase in joint pain since the back pain began. Because the pain is worse when I lie down my pcp thinks its nothing and suggest taking Tylenol which does not touch the pain. She tested my urine for protein build up.

No rise in pcp no nothing but since this started the pain in my right side got worse until I was put on 15 mg of Meloxicam and it works for a while. But not forever unfortunately I have been suffering now for 12 years and I am now on Hydromorphone 30 mg twice daily and 8 mg. whenever I need for breakthrough pain. If you are in the states forget these life savers you can't get the 30's but I had to find a good pain doctor that specializes in pain relief.

I have it and the degree of the pain changes by the moment. Is it the way I stand? Sit? Walk? Move something?
I have arthritis in nearly every joint and my back is curving in 2-3 places for unknown reasons.
I can't find a med that helps with the pain either.
I am on vicodian for 1 thing and codeine for another and nothing touches my arthritis pain. The TENS Unit doesn't work either.
I just play on my Wii Fit when I can and try to keep my balance in check so I am able to walk safer instead of falling so often.
Good luck to you and hope you find better answers.

I have the same pain. It got worse for me so I went to the doctor. Turns out i had a uti which they found after they took urine. Now it's urologist; and an appt. to see a kideny specialist. I still have traces of microscopic blood in my urine. Urologist says it coming from kidneys. I also have a small stone that won't go anywhere. Second urologist says it could be from the sarcoidosis. So who knows? If i have more to tell you after my appt. (kidney specialist) i will let you know.
