Well we got the braces and he is up and taking steps in them. They are going to make some adjustments to them to make it easier for him and to pad some area's but he did really fantastic today!!!!

YAY!!!!!!! I am overjoyed to hear that you son is taking some steps.
I remember when I was re-learning how to walk my first steps were in my orthodics. To this day I can still remember that moment and I will never forget what my first thought was... "and those doctors said I would never walk again, ha to bad they can't see me now"
Tell your son to keep on working hard at getting his legs back and continue to hold on to his strength and hope :)

O and almost forgot,
here are some helpful hints for the orthodics.
In the summer they can be so hot, sweaty, and sticky it helps if you put gold bond or some type of powder in them.
In some orthodics there are little round flat metal pieces that can agitate the skin, it helps if you cover them with a very thin layer of fleece.
The inside of the orthodics can get dirty and stinky really fas,t I would not recommend cleaning them with bleach or pinesol in my experience lysol works the best.
