Well tomorrow is finally the big day after many set backs. He gets his new Legs. We had a bunch of set back from health to INSURANCE... but finally they have got their ducks in a row and the insurance has told them we get them for FREE ... not really free but we have hit our catastrophic cap so we don't have to pay our 20%.. saved us 1400 dollars.
Friday we meet with EasyStand and we get fitted for the XL mobil model so he can wiz around the house slowly in the upright position.
I thank God for Catistrophic caps at this point. Gosh all the costs are nuts.
We have one last purchase after these and that is the bike. Just waiting for the insurance company to cut us off.. and say enouggggh... Matt rode one in thearapy this week,... He use to do well on them but his body has gained deeper sensations and the electrodes hurt they had to turn it down a bunch before he could stand it and then it wasn't enough to move his legs with out a few pushes along the way.
Looking forward to sleep tonight.. its never enough but every hour is so desperately needed.

Michelle,
Why are you getting a FES bike? I think you should get a recumbent stationary bike. Instead of electrical stimulation moving his legs Matt could move his legs with his arms. Hopefully in due time, he will be able to move his legs independently. Take it from me, the bike is hard and frustrating. Right after I send this I am going to hit it myself.
Also, when he is not using it YOU COULD USE IT.
Now I know I have you sold.

I will ask them tomorrow why they wanted the FES... But the recombent sounds great... Gosh now you got my brain turning at 630ish am....lol Going to Ebay to see what they have!!!

OMG tell me about insurance issues....geez I will never understand why they make it so hard for kids to get what they have to have but make it so easy for....well I won't get into that. I'm glad you stayed on the insurance, I know we've had to fight for everything our two little girls have gotten, each time we need new braces or equipment I know it's an uphill battle! Congrats to you for staying strong, I've seen parents fall under the pressures but I could never imagine doing that :)

I couldn't imagine not fighting till the end when it comes to any of my kids. We are retired Navy, so we have Tricare and anyone knowing anything about them is they fight you tooth and nail to make sure THEY are not getting taken advantage of..lol But we have a fantastic case manager who has worked for Our best interests not the insurance companies. But still its a lot of hoops to jump through.
Still trying to find the right Lawyer to fight his case in court.... That has been a big block for me. I want to make sure I don't make any mistakes there.

I've heard that about TriCare, I have some friends who are military and their son needed tubes in his ears, took them forever to get them! lol As for the right lawyer, we tried to find a good one that actually had our daughters interests in mind but that proved to be a very long drawn out process that is still going on. Good luck with it!
