I do not want my information posted on facebook or twitter. Are you saying that anyone on those sites can access my info on those sites?

Hello Marion,

We don't share any information about our members with those sites. We're just letting you know that we now have pages on those sites where we post about general things going on at Inspire, like launches of new groups and new features.

Hope that helps,

Walter
Team Inspire

So our discussions and responses will not be accessible on those sites?

I followed the link to Facebook and there aren't individual posts and replies on there. What there is, though, are advertisements for Inspire along with the web address, so anyone here who posts anything without requiring the reader to be a member, can just follow the link from Facebook to Inspire and read away... AND, anyone can easily sign-up and read all, if they want to. But there are so many different groups that unless someone was looking specifically for one of us and we had a picture (which note that I don't...), then...

I personally also don't like the guestbooks - this is one place that we can talk to each other and vent if we want to, without people (family, friends, etc.) lurking. Or at least it was!!!

Marion,

No, we will not be "feeding" discussions or replies over to the other sites (Facebook or Twitter). The settings on posts in your Inspire groups, as shown in the header, will not be affected at all by this.

Let us know if you have anymore questions!
Hope this helps!

Maxnan,

You can hide your guestbook if you do not wish to use that feature. You can manage that preference, and all your privacy preferences, here:

Hope this helps,
Beth, TeamInspire

Hello Beth,

Are you guys planning on adding this feature on myspace anytime soon as well???

Dawn

Personally, I wish there was a mobile version of this site, even if it was simply basic-which would be awesome-because I do not have internet at home and have to access the site via my phone. The pages load much much slower and it makes it harder to use. I like that its now sort of opening up to other networking sites as well-since I have all my posts viewable everyone anyways I don't think its a problem.
Thanks for making it a bit more accessable, although I tried the links and neither of them I can add to my pages, there isn't the add friend or anything on them- at least from my phone.

Thanks! I love this site and think more people should be exposed to the help it can provide.

I agree with the others that I would NOT want facebook and/or Twitter people looking at our postings. I would just not be comfortable with that at all!!!

I just followed the link to facebook and was able to read all the post from inspire on facebook! I do not want my post shared on facebook!

Linda,

There are no posts on Facebook. If you followed the link back to Inspire then you will be able to read posts.

The journals and discussions are NOT being sent to Facebook or Twitter. We provide links back to Inspire and updates about our partners and features.

Let me know if you have any more questions.
Thanks!
Beth, TeamInspire

Gracie,

The settings on posts in your Inspire groups, as shown in the header, will not be affected at all by this. If a post is "public" it remains viewable to "public." If it is viewable to "members" only logged in members of Inspire can read it.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.

Hello, this is Velvet, mom to 5, including an angel who was born with a rare syndrome. I am the Administrator to Tetrasomy 18p Canada. NORD helped me locate other families like mine many years ago and I am ever grateful for the kinship that has grown from this. Please visit our Cause on Facebook and our website. And, remember: You are not alone. : )

Here we go! The first of many I'm sure! The thing I don't like about this is that we had a valid sense of security that for the most part, only those with advanced cancer would be posing on the Advanced Cancer site as they would likely be the only ones to seek out such a support site. Now, with it advertised on Facebook and Twitter, Inspire is seeking out anyone and everyone. And as we see from this post, it doesn't take much to become a member and see all... And post whatever.

Maxnan,

Inspire has over 100 groups that cover many conditions and yes, we do want to spread the word so that anyone with these conditions knows this is a place they can come to discuss these conditions.

I think your point is still valid, only people with a specific condition, in your case advanced cancer, will seek out that group. However, if you ever see anything on your group that is inappropriate, I hope you'll let us know. There is a "report post" link available to report any reply or post. Member profiles have a "report member" link.

Inspire is valuable because we have a team of people who keep an eye on things and remove inappropriate posts and members and we will continue to do so.

I am a FB & inspire user......I use FB because you control who can & can't see your profile & info...When my dad was diagnosed in Nov.'08...The Inspire community has help me & my family deal with this devastating diagnosis. When you become a fan of a page on FB. The only posts that ppl can see are the ones you post to the inspire FB fan page only....FB users can't come to inspire & see your info if you don't want them to. If your security settings here are set where you only allow friends to see you info/ posts. That's all they are going to see....It's wonderful that inspire has a fan page..the more the word gets out about this monster of a disease. Maybe ppl will start funding for research for a cure....My dad's cancer is inoperable and I hope & pray everyday that a cure is found QUICK. I want my kids to know him like I do:(......Thank you Inspire...I added you as a fan:).....BTW, just to let team inspire know that my featured cause on my FB page is LC awareness......Again Thank you.......S

If I were in charge of "Inspire", I would re-think the decision. Obviously, there are members that are concerned about this.

Hi Grace,

I think I addressed all the concerns above. If there are others, please let me know.

Thanks!
Beth, TeamInspire

So, are you saying that there is no way that a person from FaceBook could sign onto the Inspire site to read and/or post conversations. As the ladies have stated, the great thing about this site was that it was only for advanced breast cancer patients. . . and we need all of the help we can get!!!

Gracie,

That is not what I am saying. A person from Facebook could come here and read public posts. Anybody with a web browser and internet connection can come to Inspire and, if they choose to sign up, participate in the discussions. It has always been that way since Inspire launched.

A person who came from another site (Facebook or otherwise) cannot see member profiles or members only discussions unless they sign up to be a member and log in.

The group that you belong to is for advanced breast cancer patients but Inspire has over 100 groups that cover many conditions. We do want to spread the word so that anyone with these conditions knows this is a place they can come to discuss these conditions.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks,
Beth, TeamInspire
