I feel pretty good about our performance over the past year but we did have a few disappointing losses involving people in their 40's and 50's - far too young to die. These data clearly illustrate the declining incidence of victims presenting VF upon arrival of the AEDs. Years ago the percentage was in the 60 - 70% range. The information above shows it was 35% last year. Despite this, we managed to stay at the 7 per 100,000 success rate and although it is not statistically defensible over such a short period of time with our small numbers, this does represent a 58% survival rate from witnessed VF arrests. Our overall average is now 52%.
How does your local police/sheriff's office compare? Call them up and ask. They are there to serve you so don't be shy.
Best wishes to all,
Steve
