i know the last time i wrote i was just starting college. since then i got really sick in october and missed a month of school but when i came back they were so nice to me and said if i passed they wouldnt drop me from school. after that things started getting worse, im in the hospital every two weeks and i have spent every fall holiday here, including election day and didnt get a chance to vote in my first election. but the school was understanding and learning about the disease with me. i came back the week of finals and taught myself everything. for midterms i had 3 a's n 2 b's which made a 3.6. for finals i got 3 a's 1 c n 1 d but he didnt stick to our agreement which i wont fuss about, at least i passed. so now my gpa is 2.8 pretty good for a sick person. now for the bad news, im back in the hospital n it looks like ill spend christmas here

YOU ROCK!!! What a great GPA. We are so proud of you. You are not letting your illness get you down...as for Christmas in the hospital...dream big...it all works out for a reason.
Much support,
A

thanks

Very Good! I am proud of you!
I know just how hard going to class and being sick. I am in class myself, so I can really relate.
You have really been through a lot. I give you credit for sticking it out ...Many people would have given up and left school. YOU DID NOT. This is great. I know these classes are not easy. When you are sick remember that you have the sickness the sickness does not have you. Also it really does not matter that you are in the hospital on christmas, What matters is that you are ALIVE doesn t it?

true. being alive is a great blessing. i just feel like im at my ends being in the hospital every two weeks and for every holiday. but it is something i will over come. hopefully i can find a system that works for next semester. i refuse to quit school or be kicked out due to my sickness... ill never achieve my childhood dream of becoming president that way.

Kudos! I am so proud of you. I am an adjunct professor, and am delighted to read that your schools is working with (as they should!!!).

I am also a doctoral student, and run a mental health clinic...when I started by treatment this past June...I finished my coures, however I quit working both of my jobs. All this to say, I think you are amazing keeping up with school. Being ill, having treatments, surgery all take a toll. Celebrate your acheivements...

I will think of you this holiday...

Natalie

thank you.

When you get down about your illness keeping you from doing what you really want to do (like school), just try to remember that your health is the number one most important thing. It comes before anything else. Even if, in the worst case scenario, your school had kicked you out (which I don't think they legally could)....you can always get into another school and graduate at your pace. However, you don't get second chances like that with your health.

Kudos to you for getting your work done, and most of all, for continuing to work on your future and your goals. You should be really proud of yourself and be excited about what the future holds for you! Keep us all posted!

well if you miss a certain amount of days they can drop you. but even with my health i refuse to quit or even take a break. i know i can make it through successfully because im determined

We live in New York state, I know laws are different all over, but...in our state my daughter Stephanie is in collage and is considered disabled (FSGS) she hates that term but you do what you have to do. She is considered a full time student even if she goes part time so she still gets fed and state aid. They also said if she goes in the hospital they by law have to type her lessons and give her extra time and help. She is 21 and laughs about being in collage for ever. Your doing great, being sick and the hospital sucks but being with family and frienda priceless.
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Stephanie's mom. Sharon

yea. unfortunately i wasnt able to get my paperwork in for disability but i will for next semester. i wish your daughter all the luck with school. being in school forever will be well worth it when she is doing the job she loves and work so hard for. thats how i see it. merry christmas to you all

You rock, hold on to your dreams and goals.
