This year, NOF has stepped up its efforts to tell health professionals about its many resources and programs designed to raise awareness about the prevention, detection and treatment of osteoporosis.
In January, NOF mailed patient education brochures in English and Spanish to 900 federally funded health centers that offer services to patients regardless of their ability to pay. Since that time, more than 100 health centers have contacted NOF to request additional materials for their patients.
In February, NOF published an advertisement in Nursing Spectrum Magazine, the leading source of information for nurses. In response to this ad, approximately 350 nurses have contacted NOF to order patient education materials.
In May, NOF advertised its Clinician’s Guide to the Prevention and Treatment of Osteoporosis and the newly revised Bone Tool Kit CD to approximately 14,000 health professionals through its Professional e-Newsletter. The Bone Tool Kit CD includes nine reproducible, stand-alone educational handouts for diverse audiences that increase awareness about osteoporosis.
In June, NOF mailed copies of the Bone Tool Kit CD to approximately 2,600 nurse practitioners, along with information about NOF’s many other resources and programs, to help nurse practitioners educate their patients about osteoporosis.
