Since I found that Boniva can cause the death of your bones, sometimes called jaw bone rot, I have made a decision to stop taking it. Has anyone had any experience with this problem?

Bumping up. Is anyone on Boniva that can answer this post, please.
I never had jaw rot, but had to have extensive dental work done, including an extraction (side effects from another drug, but that's another story). I had been taking Fosamax. It was discovered I'd experienced significant bone loss in my jaw. Most of my lower front teeth were frighteningly loose. I stopped Fosamax immediately. Now, two years later, the teeth have tightened up, and although some alignment was lost, the looseness is no longer noticeable. And now, of course, the doc who prescribed Fosamax insists it was just a coincidence, but I have my own opinion. I think the problem was indeed caused by Fosamax. This was BEFORE the labels on these drugs began warning of severe joint, muscle and bone pain. I think women were attributing a lot of their pain to their osteo or osteoarthritis, when a lot was really due to the drugs. I've tried to tell my male doctors about the pain from bisphosphanates, but I don't think they're hearing me. They're hearing the known difficulties with swallowing, chest pain, et al, which I've never experienced and never mentioned. Why won't they listen?? (By the way, it was an oral surgeon, not the prescribing doc, who warned about the jawbone density loss.)
no, thank goodness. I started Boniva a little over a year ago. Have been doing well on it.
