Friends we know are procrastinators!

0 Recommendations

About 6 years ago, I was in Florida visiting old friends.
One gal, who I had worked with, was the very best procrastinator that I think I've ever met. She just never seems to have time to do her mammogram -- (Sure it's not fun - but it's the best we had 6 years ago). I casually asked her when she had her last mammogram. She said something like -- OH YA, I need to make an appointment - but I've just been so Busy!!!! I was leaving the next day, so I made her promise me that she would call immediately and get an appointment ASAP. She did promise me she would call first thing Monday Morning! I barely got back home to California, when she called me. She had breast cancer -- the mammogram that I made her promise me she would do, saved her life.
She is now a survivor -- and she is active in making sure that women in her circle - both personal friends and business associates - get their mammograms and do monthly breast exams! Sometimes the folks we save we never know about, but I feel so good that I was a "hard nosed friend" and insisted that she go ASAP. You never know which person you talk to , may be the one whose life you save. When it is a friend - there becomes a strong bond - because she knows that I probably did save her life ! Whose life are you going to save?
I wear my BCDIY t-shirts/sweatshirts everywhere, and talk to people in grocery lines, at Walmart, at church, and anywhere there is an opportunity. Unfortunately, too many people today are busy, don't have insurance, or are just complacent. Please make sure your friends are not one of these, at least make an effort to get them to do their monthly exams.
I did, and I'm forever grateful that I pushed enough, to save my friends life. Love, Marion
