Bleeding Between periods after LEEP

0 Recommendations

So I had a LEEP done back in April.
After that I was told to take my birth control for that month so that I wouldnt get my period that month.
The next month I got my period everything was fine.
Then the next month I had a pretty heavy period, then about 10 days later i started bleeding. Its just a light bleed like middle of the period. I have been bleeding like that for 2 weeks now and now I have my period on top of that. I have talked to my family doc and he said to wait till my next colcosipy (I know i cant spell), But Im wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Im thinking of calling the Gyno but Im not really a patient of his, hes is just doing my tests. anyway if any one has any info please let me know. Thank you.

hi Margie, I would suggest you call the MD who did your LEEP for advice. I had a LEEP in February and a couple cycles I bled a tiny tiny bit within the week or so before my period. I've never spotted between periods before the LEEP and know that it can be a sign of cancer or precancer, or that the cervix hasn't healed completely. I was encouraged by others to move up my followup pap, but its not easy for me to get in for an exam so I'm going next month.

When is your next colposcopy? Typically the doctors want to wait a few months to give your cervix plenty of time to heal, but I would encourage you to call the doc that did your LEEP as soon as you can, and see if he needs to take a look at you to make sure everything is okay. You may be completely fine, but its best for your doctor to know about it and take a look at you.
Best wishes!

The next one is in aug the 4th.

I would suggest that you really should call your MD to tell him/her your symptoms and see if they think you should go in sooner. If there is a problem you'll be that much closer to treating it, and if there is not you'll feel much more at ease. Let us know how you're doing!

I didn't have the leep, but I had a cold knife cone biopsy in Oct of last year and I have had the same issue. Although, I'm on a straight progesterine birth control pill, which is what my doctor says it is.. and she's a great doctor, I trust her. It just seems odd that I have been on this pill for about 7 years and just now I have this problem.. I was also worried about it (and annoyed.. who wants to bleed--even lightly--for 2-4 weeks at a time?!). Even worse, I never had periods before my surgery. So I couldn't tell what was going on, but the cramping was almost unbearable.

I went in for my follow up pap last week and asked her about it and she didn't even skip a beat "Thats normal, its not from your surgery, you're healing beautifully." Well crap. As awful as this sounds, I was hoping for some sort of excuse for why it happens all the time.

I guess I didn't really help much, but maybe its hormones? Might be a good idea to check in with your doctor either way.. Anyway, thinking good thoughts for you! :)

I went for my 2nd colposcopy and the doctor says it all looks good. He said there is a very slim chance this will ever come back. But WE still have to wait for the results of this test.

Great news! glad to hear it :-)
