MRI Results

Well doc called with my MRI results and pelvic looks good but I have been having a sore feeling in back by my one kidney and he stated it picked up a teeny tiny 7mm nodule so o I have since had a CT scan of my chest and doc left for a week and a half to go to Vietnam so I will call him when he gets back and then I have an appt with him on 6/17.
Also one questionhas anyone ever experienced bouts of diarreha after they have had an MRI??. I have had several MRI's but since last week my bowels have not been the same. Just wondering could it be a reaction to the contrast?.

Mariann -

I'll be praying for you and your family. I was by my mom's side with her glioblastoma two years ago. So many critical functions are affected when it involves the brain. It is so hard to know how to help.

I just had a pelvic MRI yesterday - and I also have just one kidney - but I've had absolutely no side effects. With all you have going on - your system could just be stressed out.

Praying in GA - Veronica

Thank you all for your continued prayers, it is a comfort to me. Taking one day at a time she may be moved to a rehab facility today. Verbal speech seems to be coming back slowly, but right side arm & leg still no go. They are still leaning toward she had a seizure.
Again thank you all for being here for me. Will keep you posted if I can

Hi Mariann

You and your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers. During these very difficult times, please know that we all are here for support.
God Bless,
Jack

NOTICE:
I'm replying to this post from MMB (and the one re her daughter) because I received a message from her today that her daughter has had major change in her health. She is in hospital with right side paralysis and speech problem. She had a seizure of some type.
Mariann is spending as much time as she can with her. Her triplet grandchildren are a major concern for her now too, since she had been helping with their care also.
Mariann needs our prayers to support her as well as her daughter. Mariann is to learn about her CT scan this week also.
She may be able to post herself, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew to put her at the top of your prayer list.
Thanks, Karego

The most common problem with contrast material is with kidneys. The dye is a nephrotoxin (kidney poison very loosely translated). That is why they want to know you have adequate renal function before contrast. I your kidneys are already compromised they would probably not do contrast. Don't know of any GI effects of contrast, but radiologists might.

Candy, it might be a good idea to check with your doc if your ankle swelling hasn't resolved. Could be some kidney dysfunction, although there are many other reasons for ankle swelling. I hope you both have improved by now.

I'm thinking bouts of stress cause that. But I'd ask the doc or google to see side effects of that contrast stuff. It didn't affect me at all, but everyone is different .

Hope they find everything is fine .

hugs, Jeanne

Hymm. Not sure, I guess it could. I know stress will do it.

I had colon cancer in 97. Penetrated the colon, but only slightly. Had bone paid, and other symptoms so after I recovered they did bone scans lung scans liver scans and you name it. hey found nodes in my liver, in a lymph node in my neck and other places. So the thing was "this doesn;t look good". All my docs were concerned so I told them to relax, Gods has things in control. Well none of them were cancer. Only cysts. That was in 97. Everyone had little nodes here and there. They should be checked out of course, but don;t assume the worse.

Sorry you have to wait so long to learn more. Waiting is so hard.
I haven't had diarrhea after an MRI, but after having a CT with contrast on Friday, my ankles were swollen for two days. Maybe they're not warning us about the effects of the contrast, or maybe they did and I just didn't listen.
I'm glad to hear that you are giving yourself the medical attention that you need. We're all here to support you.
