My First Journal

Well, I'm an idiot!!!

First of all, I wanted to spend time with my husband... how silly of me :).
My husband is a drummer, and a courier. We spent the day together, and then decided that I would go with him on his courier route... he drives about 180 miles a night... this was a BIG mistake.
I hurt sooo bad that I am using my computer just to keep from screaming!!! Listening to music and reading some emails. Can't hurt to start my blog, eh?

It would be too hard to describe everything that is wrong with me in one sitting, so I will just start with what hurts the most: Tied for First Place is.. My legs and my hips... they are killing me... I feel like they are on fire. Tied for Second Place is... Feels like there is a telephone pole in my chest... goes all the way through, but has been worse, so I should be thankful, eh? And... My lower back... but at least I can put the heating pad on it and it helps somewhat.

I have no insurance, or money coming in right now... my retirement money is gone, and the government is messing with my income tax refund... not here yet!!! I have been lucky enough to be able to get my Thyroid Maintenance Meds through my old doctor in Washington... she knows that I have to stay on them, so she has extended my prescription for another year... well that year is almost up.. ends next month. I have to find some doctors here... AND get the paperwork done for some assistance... I just feel SO USELESS now!!! I worked for State Government for over 20 years, and now.... well now, I am lucky if I can remember how to turn on my computer, or to be able to even articulate what I want to say here on this blog.

Tomorrow morning, Monday, I have to go apply for some assistance, and I have to get working on my SSD paperwork. I just know that even with all this crap going on... I will get denied... I just am scared...

more to write later.... Blessed Be to All...... LadyForce

LadyForce,

I am glad that you joined this group. I hope it will offer you some support. It certainly sounds like you have a lot going on! I hope that you are able to get through all the awful paperwork and get some assistance (and some health insurance!). Many people on this site have had to deal with similar situations (regarding applying for SSDI, state health insurance, etc.- myself included). If you have questions along the way, someone may be able to help you. It is a very stressful process. I was lucky regarding the SSDI- I only got denied once and it went through when I did the "Request for Reconsideration". It doesn't always go this smoothly, though.

When you have a chance, maybe you could tell us a little more about your health issues (especially the GI stuff, but everyone here talks about their other issues as well).

I hope you are able to get some relief today.

Kate

Good Afternoon, (2.00 in the UK) well I can understand the pain in the hips and knees! I thought that we were harder done by in the UK but we do have what is left of the NHS, and although it is not as good as it has been it certainly allows us the drugs we need, the problems we have that our GP's are expected to be specialists in all illnesses and although I am under both lung and heart consultants it is the GP that has to make the call when I am ill. thank god I have a great one who will investigate all possibilities, if I could suggest anything I would although I am retirement age I have decided to work freelance so I can work when I want and feel good and well enough, some days it is the only thing tat gets me up in the mornings and I have found it has given me a purpose in everyday life, I have the most amazing partner and grown-up children but you have to have something of your own, even if it is writing on these blogs, well enough of what i think, take care, good luck with the form filling, keep writing, blessing and thoughts from the UK .

Ladyforce,
I also have the leg issue (spasticity). I take Baclofen for it and it does help out.
I have always heard that it when applying for SSD, it is very common for it to be turned down the first time. Even the second. Just have good records of all doctor visits, history of all your sx and when they started and how it is affecting your daily life.
Document, document,document!
Good luck to you.
Have a great day and even better tomorrow,
~Tonya

I can relate to the pain issues...hips;knees;back

I applied for SSD, got turned dwn once and the appealed it. It was to go before a hearings officer, but the judge or who ever(I forget now) read all the paperwork and decided to overturn Florida decision and grant my SSD. I couldn't believe it!!

It takes two years from date of application I believe to get medicare..a long road!

I went throug that useless feeling and depression for a couple years at least, then decided to get off my ass and stay very busy, and so I have!

I am glad you are going to do all your SSD paperwork. There are people who do that for a living, but they charge a great deal to do that, and will take a great percent of your back SSD when you get it. People think they have some sort of "in" with Social Security but the don't. When I worked for the State of Florida I did the papers for some clients. Anyone can do the paperwork. Its a long process, and tedious but will save you a ton of money.I always told my clients that were doing the paperwork themselves to just answer a couple questions a day in length, and then put the papers aside till the next day.

Please take care of "YOU" and let us all know how things are going

With blessings;
Deebelle
