Doctor Appt

0 Recommendations

Today's appt went very well. My heart was racing a little bit but like I told the nurse that was from my nerves and she could not believe that I was nervous. I guess with all the visits with her I was a very strong person. Of course of all of us know that sometimes we put on a brave front when we are in front of others and then be very emotional when we ar by ourselves. Anyway back to the doctors appt. The CT scan showed a thickening of my peritenal (sp) cavity but considers this normal with having the IP port and receiving treatment this way. I am having surgery on Monday to remove my port, and then will go back for doc to check me over from the surgery and then go back for blood tests and ct scan in about three months. Thank yous go out to everyone that has been such a great help to me through all of this, as you sisters out there are the best supporters to have besides family. God Bless and lots of prayers and love to all of you.

We all get nervous, and some show it more than others. Having to deal with a tough disease isn't always so easy. We try to be brave and strong, but we are all human and have our moments. Every doctor visit and test reminds you that we just never know...

But you stay strong and do your best. I just went for my checkup on Mon. and am awaiting my blood tests results - so I know the feeling!

Sending all good wishes to you,
Jo

Kelly,

How long have you had your IP port? Mine was implanted in Nov. 06 when I had my major surgery. My chemo was done in April 07 and my doctor is waiting until the 2-year anniversary of my diagnosis (Nov.) before removing mine, in case it's needed for chemo for a reoccurrence. So far, I'm doing well, but I'd hate to give up my ports (also have one in my chest).

Kelly we do put on a brave face. I read this and well im like this, Im the one goes to the inistitute, talks to patients , I even brought a few dozen flowers from my garden and was giving them to patients, I go to the chemo area and talk to the nurses and all , I always race my heart there, and get the same reply, they amazed im nervous. Cause I seem so calm with otheres and just not about me.
Stay stong kelly and I wish you all the best and that it all goes well for you

Ive never had a port, my doctor did not want one in me , and I got it in my hand every three weeks.

Jan,
I have had my port since March of this year. My doctor talked about removing it right away and then I asked about other people that still have the port after several years and he had not heard of that for the IP port. He said we could wait until the 3 month checkup and then schedule surgery but I decided to have it completed now. There is a chance of infection and I do have some discomfort when I am really busy ina day, so we just decided to have it done. I would think I could always have another one put in if I need it, but I am thinking postitive, making healthly life style changes and know that God has healed me. I know all doctors ar different as I have heard from many that they had staples after surgery, my doctor has used glue to hold me together. Best wishes to you.

Kelly

Kelly,

Yes, even doctors within my doctor's practice do things differently. Fortunately, I'm not having any problems with my ports, so I'd just as soon keep them. Besides the nurse's access my chest port for blood for the CA-125 and that saves my arms!
Good luck with everything!
Jan
