I am a Vietnam veteran and am classified disabled.
In the past I have worked both engineering, government, and industrial jobs. I am a British Chartered Engineer with European reciprocity.
I have a double disability in that I worked most of my adult life ignoring military caused disabilities. My last position was Chief Inspector of Mines for the State of Colorado. In 1981 my past life as a soldier caught up with me, but I overcame the problems and worked through them. In 1990 Everything caught up and my sarcoidosis was verified. At first they thought it was lung cancer but then through biopsy confirmed sarcoidosis. It was a mysterious occurrence because no one could tell me what caused the problem. Basically my life went downward from that point. Regardless of how hard I tried my abilities began waining. By 1995 I could go no further and was retired by the state; my military disabilities became formal at that point as well.
Now I take yoga to keep fit and follow the breathing exercises to strengthen my breathing and reduce breathing problems. When ever I have a sarcoid attack I am overwhelmed with rheumatoid arthritis; of course those are very unpleasant times.
My goal is to keep going forward; period.
