Thank you for responding to my post and telling me about yourself. It is amazing how much we have in common. I have scoliosis too, but luckily I did not have to have the horribly painful surgery that my daughter had when she was fourteen. My sister also had the surgery when she was a teen in 1963. In those days she had to remain flat on her back for one year.

Good luck on your knee replacement. For me, it was not as successful as I had hoped; however, I am not the typical knee replacement candidate. My femur is deformed and I have a lot of nerve damage from the car accident. In addition, my hip is also off and it seems that the knee replacement has made this even worse. I just started acupuncture and it seems to help. I've also started walking more and sitting less. In the beginning I over did it and I think that led to more pain. Please feel free to contact me when you have your knee replaced.

I suggest that you work at using hand weights to increase you bone mass in the wrist. I have already shattered my wrists twice because of low bone mass -- although I don't know what my wrist scores would be since they never measure that when I have a DXA.

Good luck to you and please stay in touch!

Thanks for your recent posting/response about estrogen-deleters (for lack of a better phrase). I've been on Tamoxifen for a year; have just been switched to Femara, but am postponing taking it for a few days until I have a big project completed (this decision was inspired after I read the sheet of potential side effects). Saw my oncologist last week, who was pleased w/ my latest bone density test. I believe this is because of the supplements I take for my osteoporosis, which includes silica (helps w/ calcium uptake), alfalfa capsules, and a host of other items. I figured out what to take using the latest edition of the book "Nutritional Healing." I mention this because you might want to check out the info. in this book as well (the book's available on Amazon.com--you might choose to peruse it).
My breast cancer (diagnosed Sept. 2008) was Stage IIIC; I'm pleased to say that (as far as anyone can tell), there's no sign of the cancer in my body now.
Appreciate your sharing of knowledge, and great wishes and hopes for your good health!
