It was the day after Memorial Day in 1987 when I had my first surgery and was diagnosed with IIIc grade 2 epithelial serous ovarian cancer. I was 41 years old and our boys were 9 and 14 years old. I will be 66 on the 4th of July. Brian will be 39 in two weeks and John is 33. I went through a lot and had a recurrence in 1993 but I have needed no treatment since March, 1994. My mission is to give encouragement and hope to my ovarian sisters. I tell people, if I can do it, you can too. I wish there were more stories like mine. Hopefully that will happen not too long from now.
