Ok ... I just went to my scheduled appointment for my pain management doctor yesterday. Appontment at 4pm. I left his office, without being seen ... at 545pm. There was still an office half full, and the staging area in back was full, as were all the patient rooms.

... Thank god I have a appointment with my surgeon on Monday. Maybe he will be able to tell me why I am in continous pain.

... I am not a doctor; but if I am reading my recent MRI report properly, I have a tumor/fibroma pinching and wrapping around a nerve in my low back.
... I think I may have my first surgery in store. Low back, L4/L5. I will know more Monday. Sad part ... I hope I do need the surgery. I am so tired of the paiin, or the meds that make me tired.

Oh gosh, I feel for you cuz I had debilitating back pain some years ago. Its also horrible that your Doc was so overbooked (or maybe double booked?) that you couldn't be seen. I hate that. Boy, hope everything works out and you can eventually resume a somewhat more normal life. Good luck.

Hang in there FLiceman. I hope things start to improve. I also hope that you call the pain management office to let the doctor know how long you had to wait without being seen. Sometimes its a fluke, but sometimes it is practice.

i hope you call them and let them know your pain is Bad!!!!!!! and need to take it very seriouse and not act like it is no big deal. if that was someone they cared about they would want their loved one to be seen right away please dont put this off they need to take your pain very seriouse . find a Doctor that knows about NF we that has NF can fight this togather god bless you jakeee09

Hello Mike,

I'm not sure if I can be of any help here, but I will tell you my story. In 1998 I was diagnosed with a spinal cord schwannoma. I was very fortuate that I went from initial pain in July, MRI in September and surgery a week later. My tumor (benign) was in the L1/L2 region.

My initial recovery was quite good about 70% back to normal within about 6 months. The other 30% took much longer. Actually, they finally said that I would never be at 100%, but I think I made it to a good 95%. for the most part I do not suffer any pain as a result.

One thing I would check with your surgeon is whether there will be any expected nerve damage (temporary or permanent). I agree that the surgery will give you relief for the "horrible" pain that you are curently suffering.

I'm not sure if you have another illness/disease that has caused this for you. In my case, it was an isolated issue.

Good luck with the surgery. Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

Bye the way, I was 38 yrs old when I had the surgery and it's been 10 1/2 years. I currently have little to no pain and no physical limitations.

Take care,

Angela

I dont agree with pain clinics at all.I mean ,why in the world cant your doctor prescribe what you need,he sees you and knows whats happening to your body. What are they goin to think of next? omg.
