I just received my Newsweek magazine. I was flipping through it, and in the MY TURN page a story about a man who has ALS. Michael Goldsmith wrote an interesting article about ALS. I would put the whole thing here, but it is not online yet. I urge you to find that and read it, and send out thoughts and comments. Chuck

Thank you for posting this article. It was a very nice concise article and even brought a smile. His dream of a ALS-Lou Gehrig Day next summer is terrifice. I thought there was something like that in major league baseball, but evidently it must have been something on a smaller scale. I hope this comes to fruition for Mr. Goldsmith and all of us.

Our ALSA-NM Partner had a celebration on Lou Gehrig's 100th birthday at Albuquerque Isotopes Minor League ballgame.

The Minnesota Twins have sponsored "Strike Out ALS" for a number of years. It's an on-going fundraiser throughout the baseball season. For more info go to the MN ALS website: http://webmn.alsa.org.
Former MN Twins Kent Hrbek and Terry Steinbach both lost their Dad's to ALS and are great supporters for our cause.

We try to count on support from the Yankees every year. The player ALWAYS come out in support. This year we gave out awards to deserving sports figures who help out others. One of those honored: Sandy Koufax. While he's not a Yankee he did play in NY on the Brooklyn Dodgers. Also on hand to help were Graig Nettles, Tommy John and others. Nettles accepted the award on behalf of his former teamate, Chris Chambliss who could not attend the event. They both played with Catfish Hunter who passed away from ALS in the late 1990s. Check out the photos of the event if you want on the website. We are honored that so many came out to donate their time and money to help support the work we do for PALS!!! http://www.als-ny.org/sportsawardsbenefit/
