This community was created in order for all of us to provide one another practical and emotional support. Of course, it is not a substitute for authoritative medical information or a doctor-patient relationship. But as many of us have realized, this community is so very helpful in a variety of ways.
I recently came across an article that describes a number of the things we all experience in this community:

One thing we'll all recognize from the article is 'natural helpers' -- Members of our community who possess 'empathy, a willingness to listen, and a readiness to help'. The article discusses a number of things that all of us, as members of this community, already know. For example, there are numerous cases where unexplained medical observations were first noticed by those affected by a condition. What is abundantly clear is that each of us comes here to 'connect' -- with other Members, and to read and write about things important to us. It's a place to stop by each day, to check in and say 'hello'.
The strength of this community comes from all of us. As Members, we each, acting together, make this a vibrant place. And I expect we'll continue to make it even stronger. Thank you!
Together we're better,
Brian
